[M4IF Technotes] How to stream video streams got by virtualdub?

Dear all,
I installed a xvid codec and used the well-knwon VirtualDub to got a xvid coded video stream. However, I couldn't stream it with the Helix Server. I made a hinted mp4 file with the mpeg4ip tools and put the mp4 file on the helix server. I used a Quicktime player to connect the server, trying to playback the movie, but only to find that the player's blank though the time indicator did move.
However, when I used a xvid encoder to got a videa stream and made a hinted mp4 file with the mpeg4ip tools, the player and server cooperated quite well. There's clear video scenes in the player.
Why should this have happened? Is there anything I should take care of when streaming a video through the helix server?
