Have You tried mp4tool available from
http://www.comelec.enst.fr/~dufourd/mpeg-4/tools.html
It can be used to convert a VRML-like textual scene description (not
X3D/XMT) into an mp4-File containing the scene as BIFS. You have to add
at least the IOD. You should also have a look at the examples on
http://www.comelec.enst.fr/~dufourd/mpeg-4/Bifs_Primer/primer.html to
see how this works.
This is not really an answer to Your X3D->XMT question, but maybe a way
to do it simpler.
