Thanks for your answer, though it is not to my liking at all... ;-(
This impossibility will make creating all kinds of programs impossible 
or at least very cumbersome.
For example, I wanted to create a proto for a scrollable list  that 
keeps the selected item visible at all time and of which the items in 
the list  can have different (possibly varying) heights and widths (not 
uncommon). Without being able to determine the bb of the items in the 
list, this seems an impossibility...
Can I make a plea to add this to the standard?
